House of Blues, Cleveland Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at 12:40PM Posted by editor What a great one, for lots of reasons. Obviously the crowd...But some other interesting elements as well. Taking a tour of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, where we've all played in our respective other projects, was different this time around since we had nothing to do in the building but take the exhibits in. It's a sad kind of beautiful to know that these amazing people gave so much of themselves to the world, yet so many of them are gone. I really hope that whatever conditions in the universe that make these people what they were hasn't been lost. Anyway, taking the stage after seeing it allowed us a different meta-view of what we were doing. And it made for a great night. Another factor is that on a night when my voice isn't 100 percent there, my guitar playing will, without fail, swoop in to cover the lost ground. It's very strange. I speak about my guitar playing like it's something other than me, because in many ways, it is. Same with the singing. I stand on stage with these two children who have to play nice together, and when they don't, I have to spend most the time on stage making sure they don't beat each other up. Do I concentrate on singing and let the guitar playing happen on its own, or the other way around? "Yes" is the answer. 3 shows left, and we're playing better than ever.

I didn't realize there were only three shows left. John, you need to tour more!!!

Tracing Luna- 10-06-2005

I didn't realize there were only three shows left. John, you need to tour more!!! Agreed. I'll be sad it's over. I was fortunate to go to one show and enjoyed reading his updates and other people's reviews a whole lot.

MaryLuvsJohn- 10-06-2005

I didn't realize there were only three shows left. John, you need to tour more!!! true, when I read it, I was like..."only three?already?" I didn't had the chance to go, but reading the reviews was great. but you guys think that's it for the trio?

AnotherKindOfGreen- 10-06-2005

i think they'll surface again... but if not, we'll always have what i'm sure will be an amazing cd/dvd to remember them by :) and, yeah, john needs to go on his continuum tour... NOW! lol. i didn't make it to a jm3 show. or any john show, for that matter.

MaryLuvsJohn- 10-06-2005

I never been to a show either, but I'll someday... Well, I think that's it too, some peaple are expecting it to go on, but I really think it won't,john said in one of his posts something abt taking a lot of pictures and have may ways to remenber this(the trio) when it's over. And I really think the cd/dvd it's going to be great, but I'm dying for continuum, you know?I REALLY want to hear this cd that he's talking abt for so long... I lved the trio, but I think i prefer solo..

New update: Beacon Theater, New York City Saturday, October 8, 2005 at 05:30AM Posted by editor This tour has broken a lot of curses for me. The Los Angeles shows, known for being particularly nerve-wracking, were excellent. I finally played a great show wearing boots. And now, in a show of coastal symmetry, New York City turned out to be home to one of the best shows we played on this tour. I knew something was up after the Cleveland show, which felt like the beginning of a new phase for us. I told my manager that something was going to happen on stage at the Beacon, that some kind of weather pattern was starting to spin up...All the elements came together, and in front of the people you most want to have see you reach that point. Damn. The trio was giddy. We ate like pigs at the after party, and I couldn't even think of sleeping until six in the morning. None of us will forget this one. Like I've been lucky enough to find the words to explain lately, I don't have the ability to express sincerity like I feel in my gratitude to everyone who's given life to this band. I look at my face when I talk on video sometimes, and I say to myself "if I didn't know I was telling the truth, I'd think I was full of shit." --- Looks like he sure enjoyed playing his now-hometown of NYC. :)

MaryLuvsJohn- 10-08-2005

So glad he enjoyed so much playing in NYC! I knew that this show was going to be great... We ate like pigs at the after party, and I couldn't even think of sleeping until six in the morning. gotta love the details!

I look at my face when I talk on video sometimes, and I say to myself "if I didn't know I was telling the truth, I'd think I was full of shit." --- Classic John   Why did he skip Toronto? That's kinda weird.
