Odd Girl Out by Rachel Simmons Ohhh my god I cant put this book down. I got it for Hannukah last night and I'm LOVING it. This is a must read. A non-fiction about "the hidden culture of agression in girls". It covers the awful types of bullying girls and women participate in and become victims of. I've been bullied, harrassed, you name it, since elementary school and it hasn't stopped. I've had best friends walk out on me and never know why. I've had best friends use things against me. I've had girls spread rumors, make 'secret associations' against me, give me the silent treatment, laugh, whisper, glare, and it's all gone under the radar of teachers, family and anyone else who didn't believe me. I now only confess my secrets in guy friends because I know that they won't turn on me. This book shows me that I am so far from being alone. Though I haven't found a point in the book where it tells us how to deal with this awful part of girl-hood, everyone should read it. The first step to recovery is admitting that there is a problem, right? This puts the 'problem' into terms that hit so close to home we can't not put our full faith into them. Read. It. Now!

Beware of graphicness on that one. I read it in 7th grade (eh... I was a bit advanced for a 12 year old) and there is definitely some heavy stuff. Not awful, but its there. Enjoy it - its great!

I'm in the middle of three excellent books right now. It's a lot to handle, reading three at once, but I always have something for whatever mood I'm in so it all works out. A Million Little Pieces by James Frey - a crazy true story about the author's six weeks in rehab Metaphors We Live By by George Lakoff & Mark Johnson - an intriguing linguistic analysis of metaphors in our language Here And Now by Henri Nouwen - a spiritual book about daily living that is both practical and profound

well for english we're studying philosophy at the moment so i'm reading Sophie's World but for "fun" I got this and have time to read it now The Uses of Enchantment by Bruno Bettleheim (The nerd coming out in me) "The great child psychologist gives us a moving revelation of the enormous and irreplaceable value of fairy tales - how they educate, support and liberate the emotions of children." - book description from borders lol

well for english we're studying philosophy at the moment so i'm reading Sophie's World Sophie's World is an awesome read. In one week everything I thought I knew about the world came crashing down and I had to rebuild my perspectives from scratch. One book I can honestly say deserved its merit as a Bestseller. I'm reading The Importance of Being Ernestine. English wit is a killer.

For my intensive writing class, I have to read Breakfast of Champions. Sadly, all the books I've read lately are for classes.

I'm just finished in "Love Lives" by Josie Lloyd&Emlyn Rees. And going to start in "Everyone worth knowing" by Lauren Weisberger. I'm wondering if it'll be as good as "the devil wears prada"... :-?
