i found an article about the JM3 concert in kansas city on the 19th of september, voila:

| honestly i am sick to death of john getting slammed for your body is a wonderland, its not that bad of a song and the media is just so not understanding its just a flipping song. they take it soo personally or whatever. |

It must've been a weird scene when John Mayer went down to the crossroads.
"Hey, aren't you that 'Wonderland' kid?" Satan surely said. "What do you want?"
There's no telling if Mayer had to sell his soul to clinch the deal, but he made the blues his business Tuesday night at (where else?) House of Blues. Anybody who came to the sold-out show hoping to hear "Your Body Is a Wonderland," "No Such Thing" or "Bigger Than My Body" was out of luck.
Singer-guitarist Mayer, 27, avoided most of his pop-rock hits - with the exception of the lilting "Daughters" - in favor of getting in touch with his inner Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Mayer had the moves down pat. He pursed his lips, closed his eyes and shook his unruly mop of hair as he lost himself in one anguished solo after another. His heretofore breathy voice had a newfound edge, too.
A seasoned rhythm section backed Mayer. On bass was Pino Palladino, a member of the Who's touring unit since John Entwistle died. On drums was Steve Jordan, a veteran of Keith Richards' X-Pensive Winos and David Letterman's house band.
With Mayer front and center, they made a Cream-y power trio with a yen for 12-bar bliss.
The set list was stacked with blues and R&B standards, starting with "Every Day I Have the Blues." Mayer & Co. also had a go at "I Don't Need No Doctor" and "I Got a Woman." The latter tune, a Ray Charles oldie whose hook was recycled for rapper Kanye West's No. 1 smash "Gold Digger," gave Mayer's trio a fine excuse to flex its chops, complete with a jazz-tinged breakdown.
Fleshing out the 90-minute concert were a few original tunes, including "Something's Missing" off Mayer's 2003 album "Heavier Things" and "Who Did You Think I Was," a hard-hitting new song.
Some bluesy jams felt self-indulgent, but at least Mayer thanked the enthusiastic audience profusely for its indulgence.
"I hope you had a blast!" he said. "We did!"
Despite his sincerity, Mayer wasn't entirely convincing as a born-again bluesman. His performance was proficient, but too mannered in spots.
Nonetheless, at a time when few musicians are willing to venture outside their comfort zones, you have to give this three-time Grammy winner credit for challenging himself and his fans. |

What bursts my bubble is all the so-called critics who are suppose to know a thing or two about music yet never took the time to relate John in any other way but radio singles. This Trio, for many us here, is seen as a long time coming mainly because we knew where John was coming from and where he wanted to go for so long. So many write as though this came out of no where. That's what gets me. |

I noticed a lot of that at the show I was at. A group of younger teenage girls (wearing, "oddly" enough, misspelled "Your Body is MY Wonderland John" shirts) left after (I believe) the fourth song. It was sad to see as they missed some fine music.
Some of the media/critics don't support artist's growth and evolution; they sit fit and would rather, cut them down. A shame.
Oh, just so y'all know: I looked around for Atlanta show reviews, thinking there would surely be one somewhere if not in the AJC, then Access Atlanta or Creative Loafing, but nothing. Just know I tried.  |

Damn straight! I couldn't get one ticket to that show but they got them and left!!! WTF!!! GEEEEEZZ....that is really sad!  They obviously don't care enough to even attempt to understand what Johns' doing. They don't deserve to be called fans.... |
