I went to the Pensacola show, monday 1/29, it was a 3 hour drive there and 3 back, skipped one of my classes to do it, and apparently, to my surprise, pensacola is in a different time zone than Tallahassee, so I got there and was stuck in a city I've never been to for an extra hour before the show. Joy. Making the best of my situation, I decided to drive across the Alabama state line just for the hell of it, noticing no difference whatsoever =), but hey, when people ask me what I did Monday, I can NOW say, went to class, went to a john mayer concert, went to Alabama, etc.
Anyway, the show was awesome, the set list was good, I was definitely one of the only hardcore fans there, as I was the only one who sang the words to Good Love Is On The Way. Alot of the people around me were also surprised by his guitar skills, on pretty much every song that he was playing electric, he would draaaaaaaggggg out the solos, and just tear it up, it was awesome, I already knew he was good, but seeing it in person was totally different, i walked away from the concert, just thinking, "damn, that boy can f*&%ing play!" lol. Gravity was particularly good, not one of my particular favorite songs, but still a good one, but man, he just got really into it, and played and played, and the encore was great, he played YBIAW, which i didn't expect, and he also referenced Back to the Future, "this next one's an oldie.... well... it's an oldie where I come from"
All in all, the show was awesome, it was worth getting home at damn near 3am, and enduring the 20 degree temperatures driving back, had a little episode on the drive back when my windshield washer fluid froze on contact when it hit the windshield and I couldn't see for a couple mins on the highway, but it was all good, lol... and while Im sure this is news to no one on PF, Im going to say it anyway, go see JM live if you ever get the opportunity |

Glad you had a great time Evan.
Omg I know what you mean about seeing him play live in person. I saw the JM trio and my god no words can explain that, its one thing to see it on tv or online or whatever, but its nothing like standing there in person watching him. Its breathless. |
