I'm really beginning to think that celeb couples have a new accessory trend going on here: babies. theyre the new "in" thing to have.
oh, and yeah.. poor kid. and poor us.. I'm sure the media will annoy us to death with this. |

| Dora, I'm with you. Tom just scares me most of all for how naive he is about medical science and his utter disregard for those who don't share his views. I shutter to think how sheltered and literally "brainwashed" this child will become. |

I don't know much about Scientology, but does that mean she can't have any pain meds while giving birth? Ouch. |

I was on LiveJournal and someone posted this
Quit yellin', it's only childbirth
Katie Holmes' mission impossible will be giving birth without painkillers - or screaming.
That's because her fiancé, "Mission Impossible" star Tom Cruise, is a Scientologist.
Practitioners of Scientology are against drugs but insist on "silent birth" because they believe it's traumatic for babies to hear their mothers groan or cry.
"Maintain silence in the presence of birth to save the sanity of the mother and the child and safeguard the home to which they will go," church founder L. Ron Hubbard wrote in his best-selling "Dianetics."
That's easier to preach than practice.
Another famous Scientologist, actress Kelly Preston, told Redbook magazine in 2000 that she screamed for an epidural while giving birth at home to daughter Ella.
But her husband, actor John Travolta, who is also a Scientologist, didn't have time to drive Preston to the hospital.
"It got hard-core at the end because she was big," Preston said of her 13-hour ordeal.
Travolta later described it as a "beautiful, still experience that lovingly brings a child into the world without screaming or talking."
Of course, he didn't have the baby.
Scientologists also favor seven days of silence for newborns so their first week on Earth is trauma-free. But this has run afoul of state-mandated blood tests, which require at least a pinprick.

Silent birth?!??!
I wonder if this is true..... |

Goodness. Whew!
I'm not shocked. Scientology is against quite a few things mainstream culture and other religions are. As soon as the grogginess from my nap lifts, I'm going to look around. I remember reading about the "schools" they have to go to and the wedding ceremony--all quite strange. |

sooo i don't give to butts if those two are together they need to go away, they are one of the many reason why i hate the media.
However here is a little info on scientology, i went to the boston scientology church web site to look it up. I also visited the museum they have and saw the chruch, quite impressive nothing i want to believe in though.
| Quote: |
Scientology addresses the spirit — not simply the body or mind — and believes that man is far more than a product of his environment, or his genes.
Scientology comprises a body of knowledge which extends from certain fundamental truths. Prime among these are:
Man is an immortal spiritual being.
His experience extends well beyond a single lifetime.
His capabilities are unlimited, even if not presently realized.
Scientology further holds man to be basically good, and that his spiritual salvation depends upon himself and his fellows and his attainment of brotherhood with the universe.
Scientology is not a dogmatic religion in which one is asked to believe anything on faith. An individual discovers for himself that Scientology works by applying its principles and observing or experiencing the results.
The ultimate goal of Scientology is true spiritual enlightenment and freedom for the individual. |
mm yeah ok.
If you want to know more

that's a pretty good site if you want to understand it. Personally like i said i don't believe in it, cause they don't believe in a god, i do, so there. lol |

Thanks very much, for the info.
I checked the link you so kindly provided. I disagree with a great deal of their beliefs teachings, mainly the one in God. To each their own, though. |

Yeah I mean when I visited the museum at boston it was interesting to hear what they believe in, but its just not something I would be into, they are way to involved with things that don't really make sense and the whole medicine thing I dunno.
See for me playing with other religions/beliefs makes me nervous. cause I have my own Christian beliefs and when another people comes along and acts like they are one true one, it makes me a little frustrated. That's why I don't care for tom anymore, he just went WAY over board with all this and I don't blame Denise Richards one bit for attacking him back. I mean come on, that women was going to kill her baby and herself if she didn't get treatment and for tom to say she was wrong, that's just not right.
So maybe scientology works for some people, but not for all. Tom just needs grow up and leave everyone alone and along with that 12 year old he is dating |

I live in the south and in the particular area I'm in, people are extremely committed and attached to their beliefs. I'm hardly saying that's a bad thing; however, when you kick a 6 year old out of Baptist vacation bible school because she asked innocent questions that a younger child would make (ie. "what if God is a girl? could there be more than one?") and persecute her until she vows to never attend a church, I think that's a little overboard.
(By the way, the little girl was, in fact, me. Thankfully, I'd think I'm one of the most open-minded individuals around when it comes to religion and beliefs. I only have a problem when they're being used to cut others down for not conforming or being the same.)
As far as the whole anti-depressant rant with Tom, in my opinion, he took it too far. Way too far. His beliefs and the beliefs of his religion/system are one thing, but to go on the attack, doesn't sit well with me. |
