Well, better late then never. It took forever to upload my photographs on frigging dial-up, but mission accomplished. The show was AWESOME! Despite his obvious discomfort/worry due to his throat he seemed in great spirits. His stage presence and energy are great; he seemed to feed off of the fans.
On a side note: Sheryl Crow put on a great show. She sang a lot of popular/radio hits since I recognized most of them. I didn't mind sitting through her set since she was so into it and a great live performer. She really got the crowd into it and was having a great time dancing around the stage and shaking it. My friend Jackie and I missed the beginning of Mat, but I have to say that I wish I hadn't, we will make it back in time on Saturday to catch his whole set. He's going to cultivate many new fans on this tour.

And now back to our regularly scheduled program.
Sound check was decent, my first one so nothing to compare it to. The list and organizing people seemed a bit unorganized, but people said that the woman running it was new, but no big deal. She was very nice and professional about everything, we saw her later on in the evening taking pictures of John's set from the audience. I took some shots of the sound check, but we were towards the back of the section, I'd guess about 25 rows from the stage. They played most of Slow Dancing in sound check, but not in the set, bummer.
I know everyone has probably seen the set list from one webpage or another, but I'll just do a quick run down and then get to the photos.

No Such Thing - Great to hear, but nothing really special. Hearing this followed by My Stupid Mouth was cool, it gave the feel of progression in John's career.
My Stupid Mouth - Another crowd pleaser, it got everyone pumped up and singing along straight out of the gate.
Belief - Wow, wow, wow, I want a Continuum Tour next. The guys seemed to be on and really grooving to this. Not many people knew the lyrics, but not a surprise since the Leak was on the West Coast. The girl next to me and I sang along, I'm lucky to be able to pick up lyrics after 2 or 3 times listening to a song. Get performance I hope anyone with an upcoming show gets to hear this.
Something's Missing - Another one that almost everyone knew. I've always liked this one, something about it just speaks to me(I guess I feel I have a great life and I am achieving my goals, but it's not quite right yet). Crowd participation, CHECK!
The Heart of Life - Awesome. Very cool.
Daughters - Eh. It lost its flavor for me when it was overplayed on the radio. Everyone sang along and had a nice time, a good vibe, but I like it better on electric.
Clarity - Great crowd participation everyone digging the mix of old, middle-aged, and new (songs).
Bigger Than My Body - Another fun one everyone knew. Good stuff.
Waiting on the World to Change - This got cheers when it started which was awesome. A lot of people have been getting their hands on the single which is awesome.
Why Georgia - This was awesome to hear live. I felt like I was at the AGT filming. This song will never get old to me.
-- Encore --
Neon (solo acoustic) - This kicked ass.
Gravity - Pardon me, but Holy Shit. What a way to end the show. The man knows how to leave you wanting more. The whole production of this was great, all the guys, the solo, the light, everything. It was like a swift kick in the ass. Great, great performance.

Overall it was an amazing performance and night. The band seemed to really gel last night and they all had a good time. They kept nodding or smiling at each other when making eye contact so they were having a good time. John seemed so happy to be there and got really pumped from the crowd. He let DRH take some of the vocals, but as it got deeper into the set it was like he forgot to stop singing and just pushed himself and ended up singing a sort-of impromptu duet until DRH stopped when he realized John was singing. Sorry for this being so long, just trying to do it some justice.
Sorry the images are large/far away/dark/fuzzy/whatever. The first ones are from the sound check and the last few are from the show. I snuck my camera in inside my bra, heh heh heh, stupid security. I also have a "sport" feature on my camera which gives me a high shutter speed with no flash so it's not blurry and the security doesn't notice me. We were in the 4th row to the side so they are ok. Enjoy. Big Grin

The background was kick ass. I was wondering if he stole my floor plans from my Spring semester bar/restraunt project... I loved the partial grid system that changed colors throughout the show, it really spoke to me architecturally and design wise. I want one of the smaller ones as an installation on a wall when I get my own house or appartment.

This next one John is using the guitar from Crash, it looked sweet in person.

This last one was during Gravity with the strong lighting from the back.
